Urban Decay Lipsticks Review (Jilted, Wanted & Sellout)

I like Urban Decay. It is no secret of mine, i love the products, the brand ethics etc. Just not so much the price however, i have my little collection, part of which i'm about to review for you!

This is the packaging, which, as you can see, is to die for. It completely tramples all over MAC packaging, NARS packaging- for me, this is the ultimate in lipstick casing. The small swords on top have been said in other reviews, to break off relatively easily, but i've had mine for a fair while, and no such thing has occurred.
These are the 3 shades (from left to right): Sellout, Wanted, Jilted

These are both of sellout (2nd picture is to show the gorgeous imprint on the lipstick of a sword and 'Urban Decay'). I'd describe this in bullet form as a mid-towned browny/peach with a fair bit of yellow thrown in for good measure. Pigmentation is on the right side of average, and with the ones coat (do you coat lipstick? ah well), you get a nice colour, but to get the true colour of the lipstick, a few coats will be needed.

This is Wanted, the darkest of the 3. It looks quite a dark brown, and but it has pink tones through it, which all together gives quite a vampish colour on the lips. Pigmentation is middling (as with the others), however, building up the colour is so easy, i don't mind.
Jilted is my favourite. No dispute, its just a really vibrant colour! It's a fuschia pink with blue undertones, which makes teeth look so much whiter! The pigementation of this lipstick is middling, which you'd expect from a bright lipstick.

From top to bottom: Sellout, Wanted, Jilt
(sellout isn't that orange, must've been the light!)

Now, for the things i dislike:
  • They smell. It's quite a pleasant smell (i can only really describe it as a warm scent that reminds me of raisins), but it doesn't subside once put on the lips. It's still very much there after at least 40 minutes, which would be awful if you don't like the smell.
  • The taste. I wasn't expecting it to taste like pie or anything, but the taste is, for want of a better word, icky. Like i'd imagine earwax to taste. When it's on the lips, i desperately try to avoid licking my lips, as i pull a truly unattractive face upon tasting it.
  • The price. It's around £13. But i think you can find them cheaper on eBay, but i'm not sure. It's 50p less than a Mac lipstick, which apparently smells nicer and doesn't taste vile.
If you're looking for a light, nude pink lipstick, I don't think Urban Decay is your brand. If you're looking for a darker lipstick, with grungy/vampish colours, i would recommend these lipsticks! As long as you can stand the taste.

Overall, i'd give these a 6/10, pretty packaging, pretty lipstick, but performance lacks. Not UD's finest moment.
